Maud Adjeley Ashong Elliot

Maud Adjeley Ashong Elliot is a computer scientist extraordinaire who encourages most female students to enter into her field. She is a Lecturer at the department of information Technology Studies of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, where she teaches Systems Analysis and Design and Management Information Systems.

Mrs. Ashong graduated from Wesley Girls’ High School in the year 2000, and from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, with a BSc. in Computer Science in 2005. She started her teaching career as a teaching assistant at the Computer science Department of the same university. She obtained her masters’ degrees -- MPhil and MBA-- in Management Information Systems.

Mrs Ashong Elliot is an advocate for a safe internet for both the young and the old. Currently, using her position as the Internet Society Ghana Chapter- Education Chair, she is encouraging older women to monitor their children online by learning about the ‘cache’. As a mother of three children, she knows the effect technology on bringing up children these days. She is also an advocate for early introduction of programming languages to children and thus supports the teaching of Scratch programs and Python programming language.

She is married and a Christian.
